Sixth International conference on Acupuncture and Alternative Medicine 2013 , conducted by ATAMA (All Tamilnadu Acupuncture and Alternative Medical Association, Tamilnadu, India.) at Tirupur on 16th and 17th February 2013. More than 550 Doctors participated in the Conference. Delegates from other countries and states (Srilanka, Malasiya, Singapore, Karnataka, Andhra, Kerala, Mumbai) participated. In the Scientific session, Dr. P. Sivagnanam. MD. (Acu) delivered lecture in the topic “Reflexology and its Speciality”. State Bank of India arranged training programme on 19th April, 2013, in the State Bank Learning centre, at Nungambakkam , Chennai, for the Bank retiring officials and Staff Members. Dr.P.Sivagnanam delivered lecture and practical training about Health Tips and Acupressure Tips to maintain good health even after retirement . More than 50 officials and Staff members participated. Dr's practical training about acupressure tips was well appreciated by the participants. Pain in wrist, hand/ Varicose veins, ulcers/ Respiratory distress Location: On the palm-side of the wrist, in the depression beneath the thumb, between the point where you can feel your pulse and the tendon that goes to your thumb. Effects: For grief, feelings of loss and longing, spiritual emptiness, many regrets. (Also moistens skin, and for cough and asthma.) Acupuncture Point - LU 9 Cervical spondylosis/ Pain & Paralysis in wrist joint Location: Near the wrist, on the pinky-side of the hand. It is a finger's width under the crease of the wrist, in the depression just above the bone that is sticking out. It's not straight above the bone, but straight under the pinky finger. Effects: Improves concentration, reduces dis-tractability. Clarity of mind to distinguish the right path to take among several. Acupuncture Point - SI 5 Pain in medial side of arm Location: On the upper arm, one handwidth under the armpit (axillary fold). The point is located in the depression between the muscles from the shoulder and the biceps (under the shoulder muscle). Effects: For grief, feelings of loss and longing, internal emptiness and making contact to one's inner worth. (Also for cough and asthma.) Acupuncture Point - LU 3 Pain in chest/ Cough/ Asthma / Bronchitis Location: On the top of the chest, under the shoulder. First locate the depression under the end of the clavicle, next to the muscle. LU 1 is one thumbwidth under this point, slightly to the side. Effects: For internal emptiness and making contact to one's inner worth. Acupuncture Point - LU 1 is one thumbwidth under this point, slightly to the side. This acupressure point is known as Smile line. This point is indicated for the nasal and good for sinus issues associated with allergies, bleeding nose, facial pain. Pressing in 15 to 30 seconds will remove nasal blockages and will give relief. Location: Located on either side of the outside of the nose in the smile line. Acupressure Point: LI-20 |
